Liquid or Creamed - The Sweet Debate

Liquid or Creamed - The sweet truth behind the two honey textures everyone’s talking about.

Did you know our original honey comes in both liquid and creamed varieties? We get asked about the differences all the time—so we’re spilling the sweet secrets and answering your most buzz-worthy FAQs.

The main difference between creamed honey and liquid honey comes down to texture, crystallization, and how they’re processed:

1. Texture & Consistency

Liquid honey is smooth, pourable, and runny.

Creamed honey (also called whipped, spun, or set honey) is thick, spreadable, and has a smooth, buttery texture.

2. Crystallization

All raw honey will eventually crystallize naturally over time.

Creamed honey is intentionally crystallized in a controlled way—tiny, uniform crystals are encouraged to form, giving it that soft, spreadable consistency without the gritty feel.

3. Processing

Liquid honey is simply extracted from the comb, strained once then bottled. To produce a creamed version, we take our honey and use our creamer machine to create a whipped version.

Our liquid honey is combined with some creamed/crystalized honey (called creamed seed) in the creaming machine. It is then mixed for 48 hours with timed intervals.

After 48 hours, we move the jars to the fridge to sit in the fridge for 5-7 days. This process creates the smoothest creamed honey you will ever taste!

Both processes are completed here on the farm.

4. Uses

Liquid honey is great for drizzling over yogurt, pancakes, or into tea.

Creamed honey is perfect for spreading on toast, muffins, or using in recipes where you want honey to stay put.

5. Taste

The flavour is the same if both are raw—it’s purely the texture that changes.

Next time you shop, try both and compare the texture. Let us know what you love about them!
